Today in maths we did a puzzle to do with directions and peoples houses. There were 5 questions we had to answer.
I found it easy to have fun but I found it hard to do nothing.
I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 7 and in 2021 I will be a year 8. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

Be the change
Today in Puni-o-toka we learnt about kindness and how people are treated around the world. First we brainstormed all of our ideas. Next we wrote a poem about kindness and how to be kind. I really enjoyed this activity because I got to write about something I think is important. I found it easy to write about kindness but I found it hard to put similes in to my writing.
Kindness
The world needs kindness , we couldn’t live without it.
Kindness is as catchy as a cold, you can share it very easily.
It can affect people in very different ways.
You can catch a smile from someone else.
You can show kindness in very different ways, like simply making someone smile or laugh .
We can share love through being nice and caring about others.
We do little things every single day to make someone smile.
You should never judge a book by its cover.
Kindness is important to me because a simple smile can change a person.
Remember kindness is contagious, have you shared a smile today?

Hide and seek
This week for literacy we are writing about our hiding spot. There were three options I choose to inform and entertain. I found writing 15 sentences about my hiding spot hard but I found getting sucked into my writing easy.
Hide and seek
Can they see me, am I invisible ?
From where I am hidden I can see only a bright yellow ball.
The ball has little black marks spread across it. I can hear footsteps as they get louder and louder.
I can also hear the toilets flushing in the bathroom, and the hand dryers turning on and of as the kids
walk in and out of the bathroom.

I can also hear the toilets flushing in the bathroom, and the hand dryers turning on and of as the kids

I feel my heart pounding 1,000,000 miles an hour while I am thinking,
“Am I going to get found”, and “ Will I win the game.
Suddenly someone walks in the door to get a ball I stay as still as possible.
They grab the yellow ball I was holding in front of my face and I have to grab a new ball to cover my face.
It's starting to get uncomfortable with my sweat dripping down my face while I sit as still as a statue. I still
haven't gotten found and I’m slowly sinking into the balls I’m worried that I will never get found.

It has been two hours they are still searching for me I’m still in my hiding spot.
They have not found I have sunk into the balls a lot now I’m almost at the bottom. I now wonder have
they forgotten about me of are they still looking. Now I am starting to worry if they can’t find me will they
panic of will they just forget. “I can feel it now , I am not going to get found”. They found me! but I think
I made a new world record for the longest hide and seek match ever.

Hockey
Today Peter from Canterbury Hockey came to my school and taught us how to do a lot of things with a hockey stick like dribbling with a ball like it is attached with bubble gum of honey.First we got our hockey sticks and we had to make sure that it was the right height for us. next we did some dribbling some stopping and some dodging. Last we played rob the nest but with a hockey ball and stick you had to get the ball from the middle to your nest.I found it east to do dribbling but I found it challenging to dodge and stop the ball.I learnt how to make sure your opponents don't get the ball.
