Today we were told to answer a series of questions to get ready for the summer learning journey . We chose a country to learn more about and made a slide, a google drawing or to type it straight onto your blog . I found it challenging to find the information but I found it easy to have fun .

Day 1. Setting sail

Today we are writing a letter to a friend Telling them about your trip to New Zealand , here is mine .

Dear Reuben

I have now arrived in New Zealand it is a really beautiful country. So far I have explored most of the south island , my favourite place is Christchurch they have beautiful beaches and parks .

While I was on the Waka the weather was crazy ,there was rain storms and even hail. It took 6 months for me and my group to arrive in New Zealand.

I was very nervous when the bad weather came about , but when it was calm I was happy and exited but sad to move away from my friends and family.

But now that I have arrived in New Zealand I am very happy to be here and I hope you come here on the next Waka that comes about.

Day 1 - The first settlers

Maui is very cool he has done a lot of things according to legends . I learnt a lot of facts about him some of them are really cool some some not so much here are a few of my favourite myths and legends.

Fact 1 . Maui has tattoos all over his body to show his achievements he has made .

Fact 2. Maui is a demigod which means that he is greatly admired .

Fact 3. he lassoed the sun to make it slow down so peoples days were longer .

Summer learning journey prize

This summer the Uru Manuka cluster are doing the Summer Learning Journey along with other clusters. The Summer Learning Journey is about helping kids stay at the level they were at in Reading, Writing and maths as well it gives kids a fun opportunity to learn over the holidays. this year out theme is the world around us , in the theme there is one topic for each week land, air, sea and sustainability. The summer learning journey takes about 4 weeks with 3 activitys every day .
