Commitment

Today in Wananga we did somethings on commitment, we had to answer a few questions about commitment, but we had to be honest, so here are my answers.

I have best shown commitment this by making sure I was in class on time and had the correct gear.

This term my top two commitment works ons are staying on task and reporting and damage or danger within the school.

I find commitment most challenging in Digital/Cybersmart spaces.

Australia bush fires

Today in Hur 3 we looked at natural disasters. We were allowed to choose between 4 different recent natural disasters, Australian bush fires, White island Eruption, Iceland volcanic eruptions and Canterbury floods, I chose to do Australian bush fires. We were able to work with a partner so I worked with Bella.Today I learnt that while the bush fires were happening the average heat was 40 degrees Celsius. We only had 15 minutes but here is what we got done so far please leave a comment if you have suggestions, do you know anything about the Australian bush fires?

Woodtech (Speakers)

This term in wood tech we have been working on creating a speaker. This took up an entire term and involved a lot of wiring and effort. Here are some of the steps we took to create our project.

1.Mark the holes on your pieces of wood
2.Drill the holes one at time making sure that they are all lined up
3.Glue and nail your pieces of wood together and leave them to dry
4.Solder your wires together making a complete circuit
5. Glue your speakers into your box
6. Solder a switch, to your circuit and complete it by adding a battery pack
7. Glue all your pieces into place
8.Check that it works
9. Your done!

this process took up 19 periods out of our term and we worked hard on it. Once we had finished building it we were able to design the box. I chose to paint it black with an accent side (the top) that was a gradient sky using pink blue and white.

Dawn raids

For the past week in Hur2 Nga Tangata we have been working on protests and events that changed NZ for the better. We were given a text to read and questions to answer. We were asked to answer these questions.

Here are my answers summed up in a paragraph.

The dawn raids happened in 1974 and played a huge impact on social construct and views. The dawn raids consisted of many police officers accusing Maori or pacific islanders of being in NZ illegally, this all started because of paekeha people wanting jobs,  if they didn't have a job they would tell the police that you were an overstayed (someone who stayed in a country for longer than they were allowed) and they would rip you out of your home and either send you back to where your from or keep you in cells until there was an available flight. People shared rumours and it went from 1 or 2 people getting kicked out to over 200 people getting deported, this impacted many peoples lives a lot, for some people working in NZ was the only source of their income and the only thing allowing them to get clean water and good food. The Polynesian panthers (the group of protesters) impacted NZ by convincing the police and citizens that people shouldn't have to prove they are allowed in NZ by going to politicians houses (more specifically Bill Birch) at 3am and shining spotlights onto their windows and yelling " Bill Birch come out with your passport" and they would leave, by doing this they convinced  the government to make it illegal to go into people houses without permission. this was also only apologised for two weeks ago.
