Starter task, The bully

For our starter task today we read a short poem and were told to answer two questions about it, the poem was called the bully,

 What did this poem make you think about this bully

I think that the bully doesn't seem like a very nice person but at the same time they might have been bullied and might be lonely. I can infer this from the last paragraph

What would I do if I saw this bully

If I saw this person bullying other I would first go up to them and say 'Hi would you like to hang out together', if they said no I would tell a teacher what was happening, if they said yes, I would invite them to sit with me and get to know them and try find out the reason  they were bulling people.

We were also asked to define these words

Assertive - Person who states firmly with authority. 

Passive - Not active, not resisting or fighting. 

Aggressive - Resisting or fighting back against someone .

Boundaries - limitations on where you can go or what you can do .

Conflict - It is where you fight, struggle or disagree with something or someone.

Soundtrack of my life

 This week in Hur 1 my class have been working on making a DLO ( digital learning object) to introduce yourself to the class. We had 4 options, a letter of introduction, my life through photographs, sound track of my life and a digital bio tile, I chose the sound tack of my life. Based on the one we picked we were then told what to do. For the soundtrack of our life we had to choose 4-6 songs that reminded us of someone, an event, a tradition or just something important to us. I chose 4 songs and in my slideshow you will see the reason why I choose that song and if you want to listen to the song click on the photo it will send you to the song. Art: Lino prints

This term in art we have been working on designing our own personal logo and put it on a lino print. to start designing our logo we had to do some research on logo designs using positive and negative space ( see different post). then we had to come up with a bunch of different designs. after we had done that we redrew our designs on a piece of paper then we flipped it using the photocopier. Once he had done that we coloured in the back of it with a charcoal pencil and traced over the lines onto a lino block. once we had done that we traced the lines with permanent marker and cut out the bits we anted to be white. Then we inked it and pressed it onto a piece of paper. For my logo design we could choose something personal to us, so I choose my favourite animal, a phoenix ( I spelt it wrong on my lino block ). but I didn't know how to draw a phoenix so i just wrote it.

 For the past while in Hur 1 we have been working on local hero. for this task we had to pick a local hero from either the 2011 earthquake or the mosque shooting, I choose Cathy White. We had to answer questions based of our research. here is mine

Durn the 2019 Mosque shooting Cathy White was recognised as a hero because of what she did.

What did she do, what qualities did she show?: Cathy White let a few people come inside her house for

safety during the attack, she called 111 and made everyone in her house feel safe. Cathy showed

bravery, leadership and courage.

Where was she, how did she get involved?: Cathy was on her front porch when she saw a few people

standing outside after realising that the noises were gunshots and not fireworks. She made sure to help

and comfort the people who were stuck outside.

Why did she get involved?: Cathy white got involved because she knew that people's life would have

been endangered if she didn't step in.

Did she earn any bravery awards: Cathay did not earn any bravery awards

How has her life been affected: Her life hasn't really changed apart from the pride knowing she saved

people.

 Today in Music we were tasked to find songs that bring us 6 different emotions, happy, sad, calm/focused, irritated, energetic and one other emotion of our choice, I chose safe/secure. Hello everyone today I have the pleasure of Interviewing one of the greatest minds of the 17th century science revolution, Isaac Newton.

What inspired you to try developing the principles of modern Physics?

Why did you decide to invent calculus?

Did anyone inspire you to become a mathematician, and if so who?

What was your highest achievement and how did you earn it?

Did you accomplish as much as you would have liked to in your life?

Why do you think you were recognised as much as you were?

When you were younger did you enjoy school?

Did you ever think that you would be such an inspiration to generations to come?

What did you do to build up confidence to present your ideas to the world?

P.E Term 1 Athletics

 For the past 4 weeks in P.E we have been focusing on athletics, every week we would focus on a different topic within athletics, so far we have done discus, shot put, Long jump ,high jump and sprints.here is what we focused on in each topic. In discus we mainly focused on how we held the discus and the correct way to throw it. In shot put we focused on how to hold the shot put and to push it and not throw it, in long jump we focused on how to jump and land properly in high jump we focused on how to jump properly and how to land and in sprints we focused on the best way to run.
